Raft Inc. CEO

Raft CEO Mindy OwesThe founder and CEO, Mindy Owes, has infused the Raft organization with innovation and passion. Mindy gleaned from her personal experiences and expertise, while making the transition from real estate sales to the legal profession, during the real estate market downturn of the early 1990's.

"This journey has been a long and very humbling process. As a divorced single parent, I know firsthand about the struggles single parents endure to sustain their families in an uncertain economy. Fortunately, a co-worker shared her knowledge of an employment opportunity through a legal bar personnel agency. My experience in real estate sales transactions and customer service as a former flight attendant prepared me to make the transition to clerical legal support in 1997. The skills sets that I acquired over the next seven years would prove to be invaluable. Ultimately, my decision was to teach those skills to other women with minor children, who were at-risk. I also realized the need to provide the women with resource information. Consequently, Raft (Resources Advancing Family Transitions) was created, the program development began and doors opened for training classes in September 2004."

In response to the need for a community-based vocational school that would provide the requisite training for entry-level legal support staff positions, Raft created the Legal Support Institute (LSI) in 2007. Our students have been carefully selected based on a comprehensive assessment, their commitment to the learning process and their enthusiasm. When students arrive for class, they have made a career choice. They understand the expectations of the school and are eager to learn about the highly professional work environment of a law firm, as well as other business employment opportunities. We look forward to working closely with new students during this transition period to their new career.
